Wiped and hankering for a lie in, we all stayed quietly in our rooms for much of the day until late afternoon, when Celine yelped on entirely justified grounds: “Die Internet-Verbindung in dem Gästehaus ist scheisse!!” (“The internet connection in the Guesthouse is sh*t!!”). She’s not kidding, it really is– and so, taking heed of her declaration of dissatisfaction, we decided to lounge around in Starbucks like Deutsch Learning Divas, and take advantage of their free, fast and fabulous internet service.
Sadly, the ethernet was conspiring against us, and their wi-fi wasn’t working either– and this, together with a girl sitting nearby with the world’s most phlegm-filled, hacking cough, propelled us to do our homework really really efficiently. An hour and a half later, we emerged: exemplary, diligent students; homework divided and conquered.
Later, we went for a long, romantic walk with the delightful Carmen around the Altstadt, and were bestowed with the loveliest sunset reflected in the gentle ripples of the river. It was dreamy, and we all walked back in a snoozy, meditative state.
Word of the day: Schlafen, meaning “to sleep”, because that’s all we wanted to do today.
