Strasbourg danced in the summer sunshine, gave a little wink, and wriggled its light into the tightest corners of my heart. It spun it around gently, dropped it on a leaf in the river, and then, without so much as a whisper of protest, my heart drifted happily away into the French sunset.
I can’t be sure but I think it might be somewhere in the Cathedral and the three hundred steps which we mounted to get to the top of it, or wandering through Petite France, the pulsing music festival in Place Klebler, the charming facades of the ancient houses lining the cobbled streets, the remnants of the Pfannkuchen we ate, the kilos of blue cheese that Celine (our amazing tour guide) conquered, the beautiful River L’île, or Place de la Republique.

Word of the day: Bezaubernd, meaning ‘enchanting’, because this unassuming gem is an enchanting, rich and beautiful city that I would visit again and again.
