Today, after class, Jorge, Ernie, Gabo, Nuria, Celine and I conquered the Schlossberg. It´s a giant mountain that you walk up  (which starts from the old part of Freiburg) and leads to a beer garden which you will pass  with a benevolent smile (no beer until you´ve completed the trek, please) which then leads to  billions of steps and a panoramic view of Freiburg.

Of course, being the clever folk we are, we embarked on this expedition with all of our textbooks, unsuitable walking shoes on our feet, and a generally unimpressive (for me anyway) level of fitness. Nuria and I puffed and huffed (just like we did when we conquered the Munsterturm), and it was pretty darngarnitt hard.

That being said, the views were unbelievable, and we sat on a bench and enjoyed a one day only performance by Gabo, as he did his amazing animal impersonations to a most appreciative audience.

Word of the day: verschwitzt, meaning ¨sweaty¨, because we were all hot and stinky and sweaty by the end of it, and our thighs– we felt the burn, baby; we felt the burn.
