Oimee O’ Brien landed in Frankfurt today!! Understatement of the year:  we were both pretty beside ourselves with excitement. Oimee left Sydney for her hometown, Dublin in July last year, and since then, it’s been sporadic whatsapps and emails and poor attempts of picture sending to each other where the differing timezones aren’t our friend and life gets so busy,  that we just forget.  The wonderful thing is, though,  that it doesn’t even matter.  We picked up where we left off, talked each other’s ears off, howled with laughter and treasured every second of it.

We stumbled through Frankfurt yelping “Entschuldigung!!” (because neither of us can walk in a sensible, straight line) and made it onto a Top Deck bus, where we instantly regretted not wearing a jumper or sunscreen, as the frosty wind whipped our hair around and the sun beat down intermittently through Lap 1 of the Frankfurt Topdeck tour. We got pretty wiped from sitting on the bus for an hour, and scoffed down some bagels, before retiring back to our room: “A 45 minute siesta, okayyy?” and so we lolled around and talked in circles.

Then we hopped back on the bus to Dom Roemer, and took in the charming square punctuated by the beautiful church. These Frankfurters know their art, and I cooed at a half-unicorn/half-mermaid statue stuck to the side of a building, we lay among cushions in some Museum, ambled up the road near the Ikonic Museum, conquered a schnitzel (for Amy) and a platter of hashbrowns (for me), and clutched our full stomachs all the way home.

A joyful and meandering day with my fabulous Amy– I am sooooo happy to see you ♥♥
