Everything feels better if we base our interactions on trust and integrity – and I think that holds true both in relationships and business.
We get sucked into saying the right things, working hard and kicking goals in an intellectual way. We believe that hustling on our lonesome is probably the best way because no one else can know what we want, or how to deliver it. We can forget that progress is accelerated because we knew the right people and they trusted us from another time, which made them want to work with us again.
We also don’t always remember that people can feel inauthenticity before someone needs to necessarily speak. And the truth is that all of us look up and listen if we can feel if someone is working and talking from their heart: that an aesthetically beautiful and politically correct person doesn’t necessarily equal a beautiful heart.
If we all focus on being authentic and genuine in how we communicate, the give-receive flow happens effortlessly. It creates an openness and mutual respect which then encourages a really amazing synergy. People will happily drop in to help you when you need it—equally you don’t feel uncomfortable about giving or receiving help from them.
