loveletter

Leone’s dear Frank died last year and his birthday was Valentine’s Day. So, today, we found the ottoman into which he had placed every letter sent between him and his one great love, Leone. These letters are from 1949, while they were courting- him in Newcastle at university,  and her, a nurse at the SAN hospital in Wahroonga.  A beautiful wordsmith,  he starts his letters with “My own sweetheart” and “Dearest Baby Girl”. Their 63 year marriage really was amazing and precious.  Frank was a scientist who sometimes edited textbooks and Leone heard him once discussing the importance of opposites to the author:

“Why are you so afraid of opposites?  Opposites abound around us. Even in problems,  they attract each other- in every part of life, opposites attract each other.  Look at Leone and I, we’re complete opposites and look how well we turned out”.

Couldn’t agree more, dear Frank- truer words were never spoken ♥
